2008 Governor's Excellence
Barberton, OH - Malco Products, Inc., a manufacturer of automotive and household cleaning products, received the prestigious 2008 Governor’s Excellence in Exporting Award. Malco, along with 23 other Ohio companies, accepted the award at a luncheon and ceremony on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at the Statehouse Atrium in Columbus.

Since 1986 the Governor's Excellence in Exporting Awards program has recognized companies and organizations of all sizes that have shown superior performance in exporting or heightened awareness of exporting as a vital component of the State's economy. Malco, a two time winner, also received this award in 1996.

The Ohio Department of Development and the Association of Ohio Commodores sponsor the award. Along with the award, Malco’s President, Stuart Glauberman receives the states’ most distinguished honor of being recognized as an “Associate Member” of the Ohio Commodores.

Exports have become an important part of Malco’s success. “Our export sales grew 15% last year. We see a tremendous opportunity for our lines of automotive reconditioning products throughout the world”, said Glauberman. “In the last three years, we have increased our presence and market share in Europe and Asia. Our current focus includes sales growth for our distributors in Mexico and the addition of distributors in South America, a new market for us."

Family owned and operated since 1953, Malco was founded by Murray Glauberman, with his father, Abe, for the purpose of manufacturing janitorial and industrial specialty chemicals. Today, the company remains in the family, headed by Stuart Glauberman, Murray’s son. Malco has become a premier supplier of contract manufacturing services to top tier consumer products companies in addition to manufacturing and marketing its proprietary line of automotive reconditioning chemicals. The corporate headquarters are located in Barberton, OH with additional manufacturing facilities in Alliance and Akron, OH. Nearly 300 people are employed at the three locations.
